Light up the dawn for Anzac Day

This Anzac Saturday, for the first time in it’s 93 year history, there will be no dawn service for people to observe together. However, we can still honour the memory of the brave soldiers and service people that sacrificed their lives for our country. As an alternative to the dawn service the RSL has proposed we stand outside our driveway at 5:55 am for a minute’s silence. We ask everyone to light a candle, and pray for all the Anzac’s, as we stand silently in remembrance. Many of our fallen heroes throughout the years, were young and never had the chance to have families of their own. Australia was deprived of the citizens these soldiers would have grown to be: Fathers, Mothers, Builders, Doctors, Artists, Leaders. The loss of a soldier for future generations is incalculable, and we will always feel that void. That is why we will remember them. Lest we forget. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. They mingle not with their laughing comrades again, They sit no more at familiar tables of home, As the stars shall be bright when we are dust, Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain, As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness, To the end, to the end, they remain. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Prayer: God of love and liberty, we give thanks this day for the peace and security we enjoy, which was won for us through the courage and devotion of those who gave their lives in time of war. We pray that their labour and sacrifice may not be in vain, but that their spirit may live on in us and in generations to come. That the liberty, truth and justice which they sought to preserve may be seen and known in all the nations upon earth. This we pray in the name of the one who gave his life for the sake of the world, Jesus Christ our Lord....

Staying Connected

Posted by on Apr 16, 2020 in News & Events | 0 comments

STAYING CONNECTED DURING COVID-19 CRISIS .. so we are back doing this again … August 2021 If you can, please reach out – stay connected – with each other – perhaps phone someone who normally sits near you at Mass to say hello; text or email someone to see how they’re getting on. Thank you to our team of volunteers who are helping to “letterbox drop” printed copies of parish bulletins to parishioners who don’t have internet/email access – we appreciate your help very much.  If you’re talking to someone who might not have an email address, ask them if they’re receiving the bulletin each week and if not, we can add them to our list! If you are aware of someone who has an email address and is not receiving our emails, please let us know. If you are aware of someone who needs some practical help with shopping or help in getting to an appointment, again let us know and we’ll see what help we may be able to offer. With no chance of face to face meetings or catch-ups after Mass at the moment, let’s look at other ways to stay connected; for example– the Parish Finance Council will be meeting via Zoom this month.  Perhaps this is a way that other Parish groups could stay connected too. If you need help getting set up for Zoom, give us a call and we’ll help you get set up!  FaceTime, Skype and WhatsApp are other possibilities for group catch-ups. Do you have a smart TV?  Did you know you can connect to YouTube via your Smart...
